John 14:26

I Want to KNOW Know Him

This might be long… but I’ve got questions.

Have you ever wondered just exactly what the Holy Spirit does? I do — and I plan to be digging deeper into his role and responsibilities in my life.

Here are a few things he is doing today:

He is the believer’s Helper — John 14:26. He seals the believer until the day of redemption — his presence is irreversible. He assists in prayer, intercedes for God’s people. He regenerates and renews; he baptizes the believer into the body of Christ. He comforts with fellowship and joy. He fills believers with “all joy and peace” as they trust in the Lord, causing them to “overflow with hope” — Romans 15:13. Sanctification is another work of the Holy Spirit. He leads the believer into righteousness. He is the giver of gifts. He convicts the world concerning sin. He testifies of Christ, pointing people to the Lord. He gives believers wisdom by which we can understand God.

There is more. So much more.

I love Jesus — he was a walking, talking human and God’s Son rolled into one. I can relate to his words and wisdom. I can’t see or touch the Holy Spirit, nor do I know anyone else who has, so he’s a mystery. I love a good mystery. I am on a mission to figure this one out.

I want to know more. I want to tap into what this Holy Spirit has to offer me and what I may have missed. Somehow, I think I may have missed a lot by not doing this sooner. I know of him. I want to know know him. I’ve always thought of him as a benevolent presence given to us — a space-saver for between the resurrection and the second coming of Jesus. An interceder for us, a go-between until that time.

I think I may have missed the boat on this one. In fact, I think I owe him an apology for maybe taking him for granted.

I think I will start by asking him for a big bag of that wisdom he has to impart. I need to understand.

Anyone got some good inspirational volumes dedicated to the Holy Spirit?

Love you, Pam
